How much will I pay for therapy using Out-Of-Network (OON) benefits?

You can also use the tool below to get an estimate of how much you can expect to pay for therapy using your OON insurance benefits (most PPOs offer OON benefits). Simply enter your info for an estimate. This information provided is an initial estimate, not a guarantee of benefits. Please call your insurance provider to verify this estimate and to verify that they cover teletherapy sessions.

Many insurance providers will allow you to file OON reimbursement claims directly through your online portal with your insurer. However, some insurers make this process more complicated. Another option to file claims is to use Reimbursify, which allows you to file claims directly to your insurance company, provided you have eligible OON benefits. Reimbursify has an easy-to-use app to file claims or you can do this through their website.

I would be an "outside provider" on your plan. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at the time of appointment, and I will then provide you with a receipt called a “Superbill” on the 3rd of each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement (provided you have eligible OON benefits). It typically takes insurance three to six weeks to process your claims. If you would like to learn more about how OON billing works, please visit the Payments section of the FAQ page.

  • If you are a resident of Nevada or Oregon, you may be able to utilize in-network benefits. I am contracted with Aetna through Alma (under a different National Provider Identifier). Alma will file all claims for us if you wish to utilize any in-network insurance benefits. You may have a co-pay, just as you do with your primary care medical provider, for which you will be responsible. Please note that I accept only a limited number of clients through Alma and may have a waitlist.

I can also accept Aetna’s Signature Administrators through Alma: Meritain, Nippon, Allied Benefit Systems, GEHA - United Healthcare Shared Services (UHSS), Trustmark, Trustmark Small Business Benefits, Health Scope, & Christian Brothers Services. If you have Aetna, check here to see if I can accept your insurance. We will need to confirm your coverage before our first appointment.

I cannot accept: GEHA - Aetna, Boon Chapman, AmeriBen, Health First, Piedmont/S&S Healthcare, Health Smart, Emi Health, WebTPA, or Aetna Medicare and Medicaid plans.

Note: When you use insurance to help pay for counseling services, they require that I assign you a diagnosis code and then provide them with this information. Having certain mental health diagnoses may interfere with obtaining some forms of employment (e.g., jobs that require security clearance) or being able to obtain some types of insurance such as health, disability, or life insurance.
